Mountain Extreme was created on the border straddling the UAE and Oman more than 20 years ago, aiming to bring the short trekking season to life in the Eastern Arabian peninsula by founder John Falchetto. The aim was simple: to popularize his love for trekking and passion for mountain-related activities in the region. Fast forward to 2016, and ME, as it is now known, has relocated from Ras Al Khaimah to an initial location in Business Bay – the first integrated indoor, purpose-built climbing wall is born in Dubai. 2020 will bring the new and current facility in Al Quoz with a backdrop of COVID.

At this point, ME, under new management, aims to push the envelope of climbing with an investment spanning a 10,000 sqft facility in the heart of Al Quoz, bringing higher ceilings, easier parking, and overall faster connectivity to all areas of Dubai. The old wall will be recycled and uplifted, blending the old with the new, to offer more than four times the surface area overall and make the facility unique. Some of the new features include a dedicated training area, a chill-out zone with FNB, and the pro shop.

As we near our 4th birthday in the new location, we’re gearing up for an ambitious expansion plan in the UAE and neighbouring countries so that the Mountain Extreme spirit can be shared across the region for more people to enjoy.
